Alene Nelson

July 7, 1929 - September 24, 2020

Alene (Strawn) Nelson was born July 7, 1929, in Ringling, Oklahoma to Ruby Alma (Westbury) and William Edward Strawn Sr. She passed away on September 24, 2020, in Duncan at the age of 91.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 27, 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, September 28, at 10:00 A.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerry Couch officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Alene graduated from Duncan High School in 1948. She married Robert John Nelson on October 31, 1953. To this union one daughter, Debbie, was born. Alene was employed as a switchboard operator.
She enjoyed watching soap operas, working seek-a-word puzzle books, and going to garage sales. Going camping at Lake Texoma was a favorite pastime in her younger years. She also liked creating macramé pieces, crocheting, and refinishing antiques. She loved playing Skip-Bo.
Alene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Debbie and Tim Buttram; granddaughter, Amanda Buttram; brother, Bill Strawn; sister, Irene Stewart; and sister-in-law, Florence Strawn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; brothers: J.T. Strawn and Edward Strawn; sister-in-law, Joan Strawn; and brother-in-law, Clarence Stewart.
