George Gallagher Giles
Funeral services for George Gallagher Giles, 62, of Marlow, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2004, at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs, Okla. Stephen Giles and Richard Giles will officiate.
Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery, Marlow, under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home, of Marlow.
George Gallagher Giles was born September 13, 1942, in Nashua, New Hampshire, the son of Wilbur Giles and Norma [Britton] Giles. He died on Thursday, November 18, 2004, in Marlow.
He married Joyce Ann Coffee on September 8, 1967, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
George lived in the Rush Springs area for the past 30 years. He graduated from Arkansas City, Kansas, High School, then attended UCO for two years. George served in the U.S. Army and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, where he had been a rural letter carrier for the past 27 years.
George enjoyed working with his water garden, plants, golfing, and fishing. He enjoyed working on his '57 Chevy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Giles, and a son, John Maddox Giles.
George is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Giles, of the home in Marlow; a son, Stephen Giles, of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Elizabeth Giles, of Chickasha, Okla.; his mother, Norma Giles, of Oklahoma City; a sister, Melody Junk, of Gutherie, Okla.; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Ed Caveny, Troy Trusty, Mike McElroy, Bart Bingham, Rick Quillan, and Ruddy Corington. Honorary bearers will be Ralston Ackey and Kenneth Cowan.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
