Sharon Allen

June 16, 1941 - March 30, 2019

Phyllis Sharon Allen, 77, of Newcastle, died, Saturday, March 30, 2019, at her home. The daughter of Ethridge Hurschal Howard and Vera Christine (Hupp) Howard, she was born June 16, 1941, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Sharon married Michael Ainsworth Allen on November 2, 1957, in Marlow, Oklahoma. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma in 1994 and then worked as a registered nurse at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City until her retirement. When her daughters were younger, Sharon served as a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Leader. She attended Newcastle Heights Church of Christ for 35 years, where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines for 10 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading self-help books and watching Dr. Phil. Sharon was a marvelous cook and everyone always enjoyed her chocolate cake and perfect angel food cake. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson. Sharon will be remembered for her sense of humor, her independence, and her adventurous spirit. She always said, "Never miss the opportunity to ride the elephant!" She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Don Howard.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 61 years, Mike Allen of Newcastle; three daughters, Tammie Vickers and husband, Jeff, of Yukon, Susan Allen and husband, Tirk Wilder, of Yukon, and Angela Dugger and husband, Eddie, of Warr Acres; one son, James Allen and wife, Carla, of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, Jennifer Hinsperger and husband, Adam, of Yukon, Logan Stanley and Kacie Whiteside of Piedmont, Landon Stanley of Mustang, Connor Allen of Oklahoma City, Carson Allen of Oklahoma City, and Cheyenne Dugger of Newcastle; one great grandson, Aiden Hinsperger of Yukon; two brothers, Eddie Howard and wife, Fayrene, of Georgia, and Freddie Howard and wife, Ruth, of Montana; her stepmother, Carolyn Howard of Marlow; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.
A Celebration of Sharon's Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at the Newcastle Heights Church of Christ in Newcastle. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Sharon’s name to the Stephenson Cancer Center, 800 NE 10th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104 or online at www.stephensoncancercenter.org.
