Evelyn Martin

September 9, 1920 - October 11, 2017

Evelyn Thompson-Martin passed from her earthly home at the age of 97 on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.
Family visitation is scheduled for Sunday, October 15, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, October 16, at 1:00 P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Metheny and Dr. Larry Martin officiating. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Evelyn was born September 9, 1920, in Tucker, Oklahoma, to Austin Binom and Dora Girttle Frazier Thompson. She married to Raymond James Martin in 1941. They had two children, Linda and James Wayne.
She worked for Haggar Slacks in Temple for 22 years. She also served as a waitress at several restaurants in Duncan, including Goodner's Steakhouse. She enjoyed gardening and especially raising cactus. She loved to go with her daughter, Linda, wherever she went. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Evelyn also loved her coffee, early in the morning or late at night, anytime was good for a cup.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her 2-year-old son, James Wayne Martin; her sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Marvin Martin; her brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Lena Thompson and J.B. and Jackie Thompson; and her very special niece, Dorenda Speed.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda and husband Charles Weeaks, of Duncan; her grandchildren, Shawn Weeaks, of Duncan, Cody and wife Jamie Weeaks, of Comanche, and Jamie and husband Gary Gates of Mansfield, Texas; her great grandchildren, Oakley and husband Jake Ticer, Keiler Weeaks, Kandryn Weeaks, Eeaston Gates, Alexis and Alex Baker, Luke Weeaks, Ava Gates, and Harlowe Gates; and great great granddaughter, Abigail Ticer.
