Wesley David Hancock
March 9, 1962 - October 29, 2017
Wesley "David" Hancock was born into this world on March 9, 1962 to his parents Bill Hancock and Carolyn McBee-Hancock and joining his big brother James Hancock. The family grew by adding his three little sisters Krista, Susan, and Carrie. Also joining the family in the following years were his stepmom Norma Gamblin-Hancock, little brother B.J., and stepdad Jesse Boyer.
He married his wife, Deborah Sue (Debbie) Dyer Hancock, on October 10, 1980, adding father-in-law, Jim Pruitt, mother-in-law, Betty Jo Pruitt, more brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews that loved and embraced him as their own. In return, David opened his arms and home to love them back.
As David and Debbie grew up together in marriage, they were blessed with three sons that are the heart and soul of their lives, David "Scott," Joseph Lee and Jason William Hancock.
As they raised their family, David supported them as a Firefighter with the Duncan Fire Department for 25 years until he retired as a Fire Captain in 2006. During that time his family of brothers grew with the men he worked alongside. He always had many great memories of them.
David had a talent about him; he honestly could do anything and do it well! He loved a variety of hobbies and being a sports fan of OU, if they were playing well. David was a hands-on dad with his sons that he loved. On October 24, 2014 David and Debbie were overjoyed and blessed with a daughter, Kelli Villarreal-Hancock, wife to Scotty, which gave David the honor of being a Pawpa to his first precious grandchild, Oliver Scott Hancock, on October 22, 2015. Oliver added a twinkle to David's eye and gave him a depth of love in his heart that only a Pawpa could know.
David was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on March 1, 2017.
Because of the prayers and support of family and friends near and far, and many others that we will never know or meet, gave David additional time to spend with his family and a blessed opportunity for us to love him longer here on earth; and, for that, we are forever grateful, thank you!
In the evening hours of October 29, 2017, David was surrounded by his loving family and friends at his bedside when he rose to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who welcomed him, alongside his beautiful baby granddaughter, Annie Louise Hancock, and many other loved ones.
A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, November 2, at 1:30 P.M. at the Comanche Fairlawn Cemetery with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
