Darrell Gene McFatridge, 48, died Friday, May 30, 2003, of melanoma in his Houston home.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Duncan City Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.

The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Darrell Gene was born April 18, 1955, in Duncan, to Wendell and JoAnn McFatridge. He graduated from Duncan High School in 1973 and attended Oklahoma State University where he earned a mechanical engineering degree.

He married Vannette Hale in May 1977, and raised their son, Justin, born in 1978.

His career spanned 25 years with Halliburton in five states and two foreign countries. Darrell was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers as well as Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Survivors include his wife, Vannette; a son, Justin; his parents, Wendell and JoAnn; his grandmother, Lucy McFatridge; a sister, Jacqueline Pannell; a niece, Carrie Sides; and a nephew, Tyler Pannell.
