Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Eettres Bennett, 95, of Flower Mound, Texas, formerly of Vian, Oklahoma will be Thursday, June 16, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Vian Missionary Baptist church with Rev. Steve Spyres officiating. Burial will follow at Round Mountain Cemetery , west of Vian, OK under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
She was born September 17, 1909 in Hattieville, Arkansas, the daughter of Robert Lee Menees and Mary Alice Sorrels Menees. She worked in the cafeteria at Vian Schools for 11 years. She was a lifetime member of Vian Missionary Baptist Church and was a volunteer for Vian Senior Citizens Center.
She was married to Cecil Belton Bennett on February 17, 1934 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1978 in Vian, OK. Mrs. Bennett passed away on June 10, 2005 in Justin, Texas.
Survivors are one daughter; Mary Edna Sumpter of Justin, Texas, two granddaughters; Connie Renee' Monk of Justin, Texas and Phylis Almedia Johnson of Flower Mound, Texas, seven great-grandchildren, one brother; H.B. Menees of Bakersfield, California, several nieces and nephews and her friends at Longmeadow Care Center in Justin,Texas.She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Belton Bennett, two great-grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be John Sumpter, Isaac Slape, Chester Blankenship, David Bennett, Vardeman Bennett and Preston Remer. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip McKnight, Jay Frazier, Dakota Frazier, Jimmy Johnson and Roger Lewis.
The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Wednesday at Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to Vian Missionary Baptist Church
