Leonard Eugene Rose was born on Oct. 20, 1929 in Stigler, the son of John Richard and Alcie (Allen) Rose. He graduated from Stigler High School. He was called to serve his country in 1952, during the Korean War, in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on Dec. 3, 1953. He married his first wife, Wynona Marie Bias, and together they raised four children until her passing in 2004. Leonard then married his second wife, Norma Gean Vinyard in Tahlequah, in 2005.

Leonard loved the Rose Furniture Store and the Tahlequah community.
He was a Baptist by faith and regularly attended Southside Baptist Church in Tahlequah. While there, he served as Sunday school teacher and deacon. He studied his Bible and knew his scripture well. He witnessed his love for the Lord on every occasion that he could. Leonard loved spending time with his family and his children. He had a way of making every child feel they were his "favorite." His favorite sport was fishing. He loved to fish. Leonard was a man of character, value and honor, traits he instilled into his children and grandchildren.
The Lord called Leonard to his eternal home on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, in Tahlequah, with his family at his side. He was 81 years old. He will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he has made here throughout the years.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Wynona; and his five brothers, Ike, Lloyd, Orville "Tuck", Kenneth, and Robert "Bob" Rose, and two sisters, Zadie "Pete" and Ruby.

Leonard will be remembered by his wife Norma of the home. He leaves four children, Kay Rose of Brentwood, Tenn., Dwane Rose and wife Debi of Paradise Valley, Ariz., Marie Calico and husband Steve of Tulsa, and Rick Rose and wife Jennifer of Tahlequah. His legacy lives on in seven grandchildren, Garren Rose, Hailey Rose, Trenton Calico, Marissa Simonds, Jonathon Rose, James Rose, and Allison Rose. He leaves two sisters-in-law, Reba Rose of Marlow, and Vida Rose of Tahlequah, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.

Services are under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Reed-Culver Funeral Home, 117 W. Delaware, (918) 456-2551.
