Flossie W. Jones of Sallisaw, Oklahoma was born to Charlie Worley and Ellen Hogner Worley on June 22, 1927 near Stilwell, Oklahoma and passed from this life on April 11, 2016 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years.

She was a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, (Hogner/Sixkiller families.)

Flossie graduated high school at Stilwell and, amazing for the 1940s, attended Northeastern State Teacher's College for two years, acquiring a teacher's certificate. She met and married John Archer Jones after World War II. They were married for 67 years. They lived all their life raising their family of three sons in Sequoyah County.

Flossie was a teacher, social worker, and mother. She helped with John Archer's general store at Akins and then with their antique store for many years.

Flossie retired from the Oklahoma Department of Social/Rehabilitative services after 28 years. She was a member of the Akins Baptist Church. She enjoyed the Garden Club and the 14 Flags Heritage Club. She enjoyed antiques and yard sales (never met one she did not like). The highlight of her life was watching her three sons graduate from post graduate programs. The most important thing she taught others about life was to persevere.
