Peggy Ann Clairday
March 20, 1942-December 21, 2008
Peggy Ann Clairday born on March 20, 1942, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 21, 2008. She was born in Dixie, AR to Otis and Ola Lee Craig also of Dixie, AR.
Mrs. Clairday grew up around the Nettleton, AR area. She graduated from Nettleton High School in 1960. In June of 1960 she married her high school sweet heart Jim Clairday of Brookland, AR area. In 1961 Jim and Peggy moved to Rockford, IL, where she went to work for the J. L. Clark Company. She worked there until she and her husband decided to move to Muskog ee in 1967. Mrs. Clairday went to work for Fred Fleak at Leisure Way Laundry and worked there for several years. She went to work at First Baptist Church in 1981 and continued working there until her health prevented her from doing so.Mrs. Clairday loved to work with children and was a teachers helper to Forrest in the first grade Sunday School Class for several years. She also worked in the pre school. She also worked in the kitchen on Wednesday evening helping to serve the evening meals.
Mrs. Clairday fought a long battle with Leukemia and non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which caused her to have to retire. She continued to be active in her Cancer Support Group, and enjoyed helping others.In 2005 Mr. and Mrs. Clairday moved to Pleasant Valley Senior Apts, where she continued to visit her good neighbors and friends in the PVSA family.
She enjoyed the hamburger cook outs for the last 3 years. Peggy loved to have her family enjoy each other at family dinners and holiday get togethers. She loved to cook and made cookies often for her kids and grandkids, and great grandsons. She was a loving wife to her husband Jim, to her children, grandchildren and great-grandsons.
She always tried to keep a smile on her face and enjoyed life.
Mrs. Clairday is survived by her husband Jim of the home. Her children, two sons, Max and Trisha Clairday of Ft. Gibson, Keith and Christy Clairday of Muskogee; daughter Darla and Tommy Jacobson of Muskogee; two granddaughters, Kristin Halford of Ft. Gibson, Brandi Clairday of Muskogee;20grandson Jacob and Hannah Clairday of Ft. Gibson, Chase Clairday of Muskogee; Tyler Jacobson of Muskogee and Matthew Love of Muskogee, two great-grandsons, Noah H. Alford of Ft. Gibson and Eli Clairday of Ft. Gibson, OK; their God son Rich Robertson of Muskogee; niece Heather Rosemary of TN. Several nieces and nephews, her little companion Tiny Boy who stayed right by her side to the end. Her two brothers, James Craig of Jonesboro, AR, Roy Craig and wife Jeanne of Rockford, IL, sisters Donna White and husband AL White of Rockford, IL, sister-in-law, Ethel Craig of IL, Sandra and husband Terry Passmore, of Flippin, AR; Patsy Cloverdale of CA, Linda Lenderman of Muskogee. Other family members Elaine Mesiner, sister-in-law, of Okay, OK, Wayne Clairday, brothers-in-law, Okay, OK, Bob Clairday and wife Iva of Jonesboro, AR, David Clairday of Jonesboro, AR, Bill and Alice Clairday of Monroe, LA, niece Stormy Cox of Jonesboro and Olivia her daughter.
Survived by deceased family, her parents, one sister, two brothers and one great-grandson.
She will be missed by her many friends, her Sunday School Class (Higher Ground), her PVSA family. Mrs. Clairday had wonderful care by the Professional Home Hospice, special thanks to Lesia for showing her love for me. Thanks to Cancer Support Group member for everything you did for me, First Baptist Church for all of your prayers and concerns for my family. Thanks to Clint and Rex for showing their love for our family. Thanks to all the PVSA family for bringing food, you were so good t o us. Thanks to my brothers and sisters and my family for your support you showed by calling and checking on me.
Services for Mrs. Clairday will be at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home, the family has trusted them to care for their loved one at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 26, 2008. A burial will be at Akins, OK, Akins Cemetery.
Pallbearers Jacob Clairday, Chase Clairday, Tyler Jacobson, Donald Teel, Byron Eby, Matt Love and Al Dillard. Honorary pallbearers will be brother, Roy Craig, brother-in-laws, Terry Passmore, and Al White and grandsons and family friends.
