SHAWNEE, Okla.
Shawnee resident Inez Charlotte Shields died on Monday, March 2, 2009 at her home after a long illness. Inez was a dearly beloved mother, sister, and aunt.
She was born in Lokeba, Okla., to William Edward and Minnie Edith Williams. Inez grew up in Wewoka, where she graduated from high school. She attended Phillips University in Enid, Okla., where she met her husband, William H. Shield. They were married i n 1943.
She lived in Mobile, Ala., Oklahoma City, and Fort Worth, Texas, before she retired from Pan American Petroleum as a Purchasing Agent. She then moved to Seminole and later to Shawnee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William H. Shield; one sister, G'lou Wildrick; two brothers, J.C. Williams and Cal Williams.
She is survived by two daughters, Ginny Shields of Oklahoma City; Sally Wildrick of Brea, Calif.; sister, Billie Burget of Shawnee; nieces, G'lou Poland of Dallas, Texas; Carolyn Clark and Dee Williams of Mobile, Ala.; nephews, Mike Williams of Bellevue, Texas; Bart Williams of Mobile, Ala.; 12 great-nieces and nephews and five great-great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Greg Parker, Dr. Stephen Archer, Sue Robinson, Dee Fairchild, and the entire staff of Good Shepherd Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. Bob Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Okla., under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
