James Hershel McDaniel was born on July 4, 1919, at his parents' home
in Section 22 of Township 10N, Range 6E near Little, Okla, and departed this
life on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in Prague, Okla., at the age of 89.
Hershel, the son of James Walker McDaniel and Mary Ruby (Alston)
McDaniel, lived his entire life in the same section of land in which he was
born.
Hershel was married to Hazel Alene Johnson on April 22, 1938 in
Seminole, Okla.
He was retired from Tinker Air Force Base and was an active cattle
rancher most of his life. Hershel had a busy retirement. He and Hazel traveled
extensively and spent many weeks out of every year fishing and enjoying their
cabin on Tenkiller Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Beverly Sue
McDaniel on Dec. 31, 2006; and an infant daughter.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, 11 months, 15 days, Hazel McDaniel
of the home; one grandson, Mike Vass and his wife Denise of Semiole; two
grandaughters, L. Denise North and her husband, Ted of Seminole and Jenen Factor
of Seminole; ten great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 17, at
Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.
Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at Parks
Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Bro. Carl Whitfield and Bro. Ron Shepherd
officiating. Burial will follow at the Little Cemetery in Seminole County.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
