MIDGE E. MACHADO
A rosary for longtime Seminole resident Midge Machado has been planned for Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
A funeral mass is to follow on Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Seminole at 10:30 a.m. with Father Basil Keenan, O.S.B. officiating.
Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
Midge E. (Hargrave) Machado, 84, died, Mondayk Feb. 25, 2008 in Oklahoma City. She was born Oct. 15, 1923 to George and Blanch Kenan (Marquis) Hargrave.
She grew up in Wewoka until her junior year at Wewoka High School, then the family moved to the Strother Community where they lived for one year and then moved to Red Bluff, Calif., where Midge graduated from High School.
In 1945, she moved to Culver City, Calif. where she married John Frank Machado on August 11, 1945 in Culver City. Mr. Machado preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2001. Together the couple raised six sons and one daughter.
She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Seminole, where she served as organist for many years. She received her Bachelor's Degree in education from Oklahoma Baptist's University in 1982 and her Master's Degree in education from East Central University in 1984.
She taught school at Prague, Maud and Davenport Schools. She was a member of the Oklahoma Teachers Association and a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in California.
She is survived by her sons; John Machado and his wife, Cindy of Miami, Okla., George Machado of Racine, Wis., Pat Machado and his wife, Debra of Fresno, Calif., Kernon Machado and his wife, Melanie of Camarillo, Calif., Bryon Machado of the home in Seminole, and Mark Machado and his wife, Kathy of Seminole; and daughter, Anne Machado of the home in Seminole.
She is also survived by her grandchildren; John Patrick Machado, Jeffrey Machado, Bryon Machado, Lindsay (Machado) Bilshausen, Kristin Machado, Heather Marshall, Hollie McGrail, Susan Machado, Meagan Machado, Katie Machado, Molly Machado, Patrick Machado, Scott Machado. 17 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Frank Machado; two brothers: George Hargrave, Jr. and Gerald Hargrave; one sister, Jo Ann Sturdevant; and a grandson Matathew Machado.
