Services for longtime Carter County Home Demonstration Agent, Irene B. Woods, were Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in McClure Chapel at First United Methodist Church, Ardmore, conducted by Rev. Dan Patman, associate pastor. Graveside rites and burial were at 2:00 p.m. in Little Cemetery at Little.
Mrs. Woods, the eldest and last surviving of the seven children of Lawrence D. and Molly Ann Vogt Biddler, died September 4, 1994, in an Ardmore hospital after an extended illness. She was born August 12, 1901, at Diamond, Wyoming.
She and Lloyd H. Woods were married May 2, 1925, at McAlester, and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1940. Mrs. Woods moved to Ardmore in 1943 from Woodford where she had been a teacher. Upon her arrival in Ardmore she began her career with the Home Extension Service. She retired in 1965 as the District Home Demonstration Agent from the Carter County OSU Extension Center. Mrs. Woods was well known throughout Love County by the members of the Home Demonstration Clubs.
A member of the First United Methodist Church and John Carlock Sunday School Class, Mrs. Woods received her bachelor of science degree from Central State College at Edmond in 1939 and masters of science degree from Oklahoma State University in 1959. She was a member of Oklahoma State University Home Economics Alumni Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Omicron Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi National Honorary Extension Fraternity, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Central State University Alumni Association.
Survivors include a nephew, David Michael Biddler of Dallas, Texas; two nieces, Marilyn Gilbertson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Kay Grumbine of Irving, Texas; several great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, Maurice C. Biddler, Edward Biddler and Lawrence D.
