EVELYN CLEVELAND Services: Mon., Oct 13, 2008 1p.m. Evelyn Cleveland, 74 year old, lifelong Seminole resident, died Thursday, Oct 9, in Moore. She was born Dec. 31, 1933, in Carroll County, Arkansas to Luther Ward Furguson and Gracie Jewel (Guess) Furguson.
She married Claud Alvin Cleveland on Dec. 17, 1951, in Wewoka. He preceded her in death in January of 1974.
Cleveland was a homemaker and worked in the food service industry at several area resturants including Bev's Beef and Rye, Our Daily Bread, and Leatha Steak House. She was also a member of the Seminole First Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, David Cleveland of Fayetteville, Ark; six daughters, Linda Thompson, of Seminole, Jan Jernigan, of Moore, Claudine Bellows, of Moore, Debbie Lupton, of Moore, Judy Hester, of Seminole, and Teresa Cleveland of Moore; two brothers, Chester Ferguson, of Eufaula, Hubert Ferguson, of Seminole; two sisters, Opal Bellows, of Denton, Texas and Barbara Grant, of Cromwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Claud Cleveland, and by one sister, Dixie Cooper.
Funeral services were scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, October 13 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Seminole. Rev. Kevin Daniels and Rev. Allen Wood officiated the service. Interment followed at Little Cemetery, north of Seminole.
Casket bearers were her grandsons; Shawn Cleveland, Jason Bellows, Brian Bellows, Tyler Bellows, Shane Hester, Luke Hester, Zackery Lupton, and Josh Jernigan.
Services were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole.
