Zachary "Zach" Ryan McGill
March 8, 1982 - March 31, 2018
A graveside service celebrating and remembering the life of Zachary "Zach" Ryan McGill will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore. Zach passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was 36. The family has entrusted DeLozier Funeral Service, Chelsea with Zach's care.
Born March 8, 1982 in Claremore, OK to Roger H. and Bonnie Jean (Pruitt) McGill, Zach was raised and educated in his birth community. He attended Claremore Public Schools and Thunderbird Youth Academy, where he graduated in 1999. After graduation he joined the United States Army Reserves and continued his education by signing up with Job Corp. His most recent employment was with Trident Network Services where he filmed horse races, a career that he loved.
While in school Zach wrote a column called the "The Fan" for the school paper. It was because of his love of sports that he excelled as a writer and received several awards for his stories. Zach also enjoyed college and Pro football. The Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys were without a doubt his two favorite teams.
Referred to by his family as a young man with a contagious laugh and a good sense of humor; Zach enjoyed music and hanging out with his friends in his free time. It was this group of friends that gave Zach his nickname "Cutty", and even when his health was failing it was that nickname that could put a smile on his face.
This son, brother, and friend will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Zach is survived by his parents, brother, Matthew, grandfathers, Lester Pruitt, and Marshall McGill, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his close friends, Nick, Logan, Brad and James. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Patricia Pruitt, and Mary McGill, and cousin, Charles Jackson.
