Vivian S. Bickford
December 6, 1938 - October 29, 2024
A graveside service to celebrate and remember the life of Vivian S. Bickford will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2024, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore. Vivian passed away in Claremore on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. She was 85.
Born in Claremore, OK on December 6, 1938, to Robert and Aline (Johnico) Robison. Vivian was raised and educated in the Verdigris area and attended Verdigris Public Schools. On November 2, 1960, Vivian married the love of her life Dean Bickford in Kay County. Their marriage lasted for over 47 years, until his passing in 2008. They were the proud parents of 4 children, Jamie, Kathy, Shea and Rena. Vivian excelled at being a wife and mother and devoted her entire life to being in her home and caring for her family. She was very proud of her Native American heritage and the Choctaw Nation Labor Day Festival was an event she looked forward to each year.
A lady that enjoyed life and especially cutting up, Vivian was known to do anything to get a laugh. She was actively involved in all of her children's activities growing up. When grandchildren came along it might be said that Mamaw became her favorite word. Vivian had a unique relationship with each of her grandchildren. Mama was always the go to for a day of fun and babysitting. Vivian liked horseback riding and doing trail rides with her kids. She enjoyed attending rodeos and going on drives. Another part of her day was settling in to watch The Young and the Restless, her favorite daytime soap opera. Vivian's smile was always the brightest when her family was all together. Holidays were always special, and Vivian was known for her green bean salad. According to her family she thought it was delicious, but it wasn't a family favorite.
In later life Vivian started delivering flowers for Dorothy's Flower Shop in Claremore. She loved everything about it. Vivian liked to see the smile on people's faces when she made a delivery. She also just enjoyed the conversation and being out and on the move. It was in this job she made many lifelong friends and memories. Vivian was also very athletic and was a part of a Senior Basketball Team. They traveled all over playing basketball and even went to Mexico and Texas. No story about Vivian would be complete unless you mentioned her love of pets. She had very special toy poodle named Missy and if you saw Vivian driving you can bet Missy was in the car right beside her.
A lady that has lived life her way. Vivian has left a legacy and memories that will live on in the lives of her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Jamie Bickford and girlfriend Dora Fields, Kathy Bickford and Shea Herrera, grandchildren, Jessika Ava, Tanna Peverley, Kelsey Bickford and Hazen Herrera, great grandchildren, Myranda Kistler, Spur Peverley, and Bronc Peverley, brother, Eugene Robinson and wife Nancy, sister, Imogene Robinson, special lifelong friends, Julia Kinzer, Glenda Bailey and Joyce Rager and her grand dogs. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, and daughter Rena Sue Bickford.
