Donald E. "Don" Arrowood
November 16, 1938 - November 4, 2021
A graveside service celebrating and remembering the life of Donald E. "Don" Arrowood will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore. Don passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 82.
Born in Claremore, OK on November 16, 1938 to Eugene and Evelyn (Jennings) Arrowood, Don was raised and educated in his birth community and graduated from Claremore Public Schools with the Class of 1957. On February 22, 1958 in Claremore, Don married the love of his life, Chariety Bell Kennan. Their marriage was gifted with two children, Beth and Steve. Don provided for his family working in the manufacturing industry for John Zink Co., Centrilift and then retiring from Asec Manufacturing.
Don's smile was always the brightest when spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was known as a kind and patient man that would always put others before himself and help anyone that needed it. According to his family, he was a jack of all trades and would try anything until he found out he couldn't do it.
A man that had a wide variety of interests and talents, Don liked archery and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman in his early years. He enjoyed working on his cars and his classic cars, but the fuel injection engines were not his favorite. Woodworking and making jewelry were couple of his other hobbies. Don looked forward to the annual homecoming and reunion festivities with his graduating class and you could bet he didn't miss one. He treasured those friendships from school and the opportunity to catch up on what everyone was doing. No story about Don would be complete unless you mentioned his passion for football and the OU Sooners. It could be said without a doubt that he was a die-hard Sooner fan.
This husband, father and grandfather has left a legacy that will live on in the lives of his family and friends. Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Chariety, children, Elizabeth Ann "Beth" Arrowood, and Steven Allen Arrowood and wife Shelley, grandchildren, Ty Arrowood, Nathan Sappington and Jonathan Sappington and wife Alexandria, great grandchildren, Kaden Noah, Mason Jonah and Bayli Sue Sappington, and a host of nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Larry Arrowood, Darrell Arrowood, Wayne Arrowood and Corporal Curtis Arrowood.
