Sherry Dawn VanPelt
July 12, 1964 - July 15, 2024
Sherry Dawn VanPelt, 60, of Talala, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on the evening of July 15, 2024, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, at The Journey Home. She was born on July 12, 1964, in Brownwood, Texas, to Eddie Bo Wilson and Linda (Hays) Wilson.
Sherry grew up in Texas, graduating from Santa Anna High School. She was well-liked and popular in high school and held the titles of Homecoming Queen and FFA Sweetheart. Right after high school, she began working in the insurance industry. She advanced quickly in the industry, becoming knowledgeable and establishing a successful career as an insurance broker. On September 15, 2008, Sherry married the love of her life, Jon VanPelt, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Sherry enjoyed being outside and tending to her flowers and garden. She loved country music and dancing. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, reading, and quilting. Sherry had a special place in her heart for animals and loved her pets. Sherry loved her family fiercely and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren was everything to her. Sherry will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Sherry is preceded in death by her father: Eddie Bo Wilson; and her grandparents: Mom and Daddy Bo and Memaw and Papa.
Those left to cherish the memory of Sherry include her husband: Jon S. VanPelt; her mother: Linda Wilson; her children: Travis Mitchell, Ashlee Hilton and husband, Jason, and Emili Monk and husband, Jake; her grandchildren: Khloe Mitchell, Bailee Hilton, Jayden Hilton, Maycee Hilton, Asher Hilton, Malachi Hilton, Journey VanPelt, Carleigh VanPelt, and Morgan Hudson; and her siblings: Tiger Wilson and Debbie Urban.
A funeral service for Sherry will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Talala with Pastor Lester Orwig officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Talala, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family asked for donations in Sherry's name to be made to The Journey Home, 900 Washington Blvd. Bartlesville, OK 74006.
