John W. "Chubs" Shrier
July 10, 1966 - July 2, 2024

Services to remember and celebrate the life of long time Chelsea business owner John W. "Chubs" Shrier will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Chelsea. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery where Chubs will be laid to rest beside his wife Stacie. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 3-7 with family there to receive friends from 5-7. Chubs passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. He was 57.

Born in Oklahoma City, OK on July 10, 1966, to John W. and Rose (Bookout) Shrier. Chubs was raised and educated in Chelsea and graduated from Chelsea High School with the class of 1984. Chubs' mom Rose, remarried to J.C. Abram after moving to Chelsea. Chubs considered J.C. his father and the blended marriage had three children, Chubs, Candice and Don. On September 26, 1992, in Chelsea at the Assembly of God Church, Chub married the love of his life Stacie Couch. A marriage that was gifted with nine children and lasted for over 28 years until her passing in June of 2021. Chubs provided for his family owning and operating Chubs Battery and Tire, a Chelsea business that he started in the early 90's. Because of his love of the people and the community he called home, Chubs faithfully served on the Chelsea Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years.

A man that loved family and just loved kids in general. Chubs was actively involved in his daughter's activities. He could have been considered their biggest fan and supporter. He coached their softball team and was the designated sheep shear of Amber's FFA project. When grandchildren came along it might be said that "Pawpa" was music to his ears. He loved the times he had an opportunity to spoil those grandkids and then send them home. Chubs had a huge heart and was always willing to help anyone that needed it. He and wife Stacie were the mother and father figures for so many kids throughout their lives.

When free time did present itself, Chubs liked to fish. He was a huge NASCAR fan and liked to watch UFC boxing or better yet, bear knuckle boxing. He was always up for a cold Coca Cola and kicking back in his recliner for an old western movie. His favorites were the ones that starred John Wayne. Chubs liked all kinds of music and going to concerts was a special treat.

A man that has left a huge footprint in the community he called home, as well as a legacy that will live on in the lives of his family and friends. Chubs is survived by his children, Amber Shoemaker and husband Joseph, Kimberlee Shrier, Denise Budde, Malachi Williams, Urriah Williams, Ayriana Williams, Ayrial Budde, Madison Huff and husband David and Lindsey Jackson, grandchildren, Olivia Shoemaker, Amelia Shoemaker, Liam Shoemaker, Noah Shoemaker, Eliza Huff, Denali Huff and Davi Tanner and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Chubs was preceded in death by his wife Stacie, grandson, Terren Tanner, his parents Rose and JC Abram, and his biological father John.
