Josie Lee Burgess, oldest daughter of the late Calvin and Doral Burgess, born May 29, 1892 at Kingfisher, Oklahoma, departed this life December 23, 1965 at Sayre Hospital after a short illness at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 24 days. On July 3, 1907, she married Asa R. Wright. To this union to daughters were born, Dora Barker and Mabel Arnold.
Asa and Josie moved to Old Rankin in 1908, made their home in Reydon except a few years they livin New Mexico.
She was a member of the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, one sister and 5 brothers.
She leaves to mourn, two daughters of Reydon, 2 grandchildren, Erma Lea Burns of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Roy E. Barker of Reydon, 6 great grandchildren, Billy Earl, Doran and Cheyl Burns, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Gene, Ramona, Michael Barker of Reydon; two brothers-in-law, Hoy Wright, Reydon, Lawrence Bailey, Guthrie, Oklahoma, and a host of nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends.
As God looked down from His Heavenly home,
He saw a mother grieving her heart away.
She moaned, Lord, I can't stand this
My mate has gone today.
Then God put His arms around her,
And called the mother so dear,
To rest with father in Heaven above.
Relatives attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Glen Forbes, Kingfisher, Oklahoma; Mrs. Larry Colton, Edmond, Oklahoma; Mr. Lawrence Bailey and son, Guthrie; Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Lail, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mrs. June Eshelman, Pawnee, Oklahoma.
Interment in White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
