Robert Andrew Wheeler was born June 8, 1878 in Gilmore County, Georgia. In early childhood he moved with his parents to Sargent, Texas county, Missouri.
He came to Roger Mills county and homesteaded in 1902, seven miles southeast of Reydon.
He returned to Vinita, Oklahoma in 1905 and married Miss Manta Clay, who with her husband, has resided on this farm until their removal to Reydon in 1939.
He departed from his home January 17, 1943, at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 9 days.
One son, Leonard preceded him in death in 1934.
Those who mourn his departure are his wife and eight children, Mrs. Laverna Dorrack, Mrs. Pauline Miller and Mrs. Elsie Mallow, all of St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. Wilma Voss of Pampa, Texas; Mrs. Mary Lee Cole of Wheeler, Texas; Robert E. Wheeler of Dumas, Texas; Dillard and Ruth Elizabeth of the home address; twelve grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also leaves two brothers and three sisters to mourn his passing. They are Mrs. Alice Moon and John C. Wheeler of Canadian, Texas; Ben F. Wheeler of Vinita, Oklahoma; Mrs. Mollie Burks and Mrs. Grace Richardson of Reydon.
He will be greatly missed by his many friends of Reydon, as he had a cheery greeting for everyone and was beloved and respected by all who knew him.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. A. Hawkins at the Assembly of God Church, Wednesday, January 20, 1943 at 2:00 p.m.
The Fatheree Funeral Home of Erick and Reydon, Oklahoma, were in charge and interment was in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
Those who attended the funeral of Robert Wheeler from a distance were Mrs. Wheeler's sister, Mrs. Mettie Fisk of Coffeyville, Kansas; John C. Wheeler and daughter, Patsy Alice and sons; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Wheeler and Elmo Wheeler; Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Moon and her daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Hanna all of Canadian, Texas; Mrs. Bart Hooper of Buena Park, California; Miss Ruby Richardson of Chickasha; Mrs. Pauline Mills and Mrs. Elsie Mallow of St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. Wilma Voss of Pampa, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Cole and daughter of Wheeler, Texas; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Wheeler and children of Dumas, Texas. Friends were Mr. and Mrs. Voss of Pampa, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Cole and daughter of Wheeler, Texas; Mrs. Coy Smith of Dumas, Texas; Mrs. Roxie Metcalf and son, Clintie Evans of Wheeler, Texas; and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stauber of Crawford, Oklahoma.
