Marguerite Irene Trammell Spurlin was born March 14, 1916 in Gem City, Texas to Mary Swope and Gus Trammell.

She passed away April 24, 2009 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 10 days.

Marguerite lived with her parents on the Trammell Ranch until she started school.

She then lived with her grandmother, Ann Trammell in Reydon, and attended school at Rankin and then Reydon, graduating Valedictorian in 1934.

She married James G. "Buck" Spurlin on February 27, 1935 in Reydon where they remained until 1937 when they moved to Harley, New Mexico. They returned to Reydon in 1943 before moving to Victorville, California in 1956 to make their home.

Marguerite worked at the Victor Bowl bowling alley where she had fond memories of bowling with Roy Rogers and Bob Hope.

Shortly after Buck's death, Marguerite returned to live at the Elkwood Assisted Living Center in Elk City until her death.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Reydon.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Frances Chandler; and her brother, Frank "Jack" Trammell.

She is survived by her two daughters, Patty Driver and husband Jack of Elk City, Oklahoma; Beverley Tunison of Panama City, Florida; oneson, Jim Spurlinof Santa Clarita, California; one sister, Mary Peo and husband, Ernie of Lincoln, Nebraska; none grandchildren; one step grandson; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to White Rose Cemetery or Reydon American Legion Hut.

Services were held Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Whinery-Savage Chapel with burial at White Rose Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
