Rufus Earl "Buzz" Estes © Cheyenne Star Submitted by: Wanda Purcell
Services were held for Rufus Earl "Buzz" Estes at the Reydon Community building, Tuesday, August 9, 1955 at 2 p.m. following his death when his pick-up overturned on Highway 33, 2 miles south and 3/4 mile east of Durham, Oklahoma.
Burial was in White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Rev. Sanford Cole presiding at the graveside.
"Buzz" was the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Estes of Reydon, and was born August 15, 1933 at Reydon and passed away August 7, 1955, at the age of 21 years, 11 months, and 23 days.
He graduated from Durham High school in 1952.
After completing high school Buzz first decided to go to college, but soon changed his mind because he wanted to be at home and help his father with the farm work. Because of the happiness and success he found in his work on the farm, and the pleasure he found in his many friends and relatives, Buzz lived a very happy but short life.
He leaves to mourn, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Estes; one brother, Teddy Martin Estes of Reydon; four sisters, Patsy Ruth Burks of Reydon; Jolene Keller of Tulsa; Frankye Belle Burton of Cactus, Texas; and Rosemarie Estes of Reydon; two grandparents, Rebecca Cox of Reydon; and Earl Estes of Cheyenne; one niece, Pamela Ann Burks; and one nephew, Bob Michael Keller.
His aunts and uncles whom he left are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mabry of Amarillo, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Monte Wilson and girls of Crawford; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hunt and daughter of Cheyenne; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Estes and family of Reydon; and Mr. and Mrs. Foster Cox of Castlewood, South Dakota; as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
