Cleo Gertrude Provines was born September 14, 1899, at Edon, Ohio, to James Wesley and Mettie Provines.
She passed away in Roger Mills Memorial Hospital, August 20, 1970, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 6 days.
She came to Oklahoma in 1901 with her parents.
On March 4, 1922, she married James M. Clay, who preceded her in death in 1957.
They made their home 3 miles northeast of what is now Reydon, Oklahoma, where she lived until about 3 months ago.
She leaves her seven children who are Bula May Sides of Durham, Oklahoma; Gertrude Lea Flesher of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Russell Ray Clay of Reydon, Oklahoma; Velma Dean Robison of Follett, Texas; Hester Virginia Millemon of Rolla, Kansas; Kenneth D. Clay of Winnett, Montana; Mildred Faye Harrison of Homer, Alaska; her mother, Mettie Provines of Oklahoma City; survives as well as a sister, Helen Turbyfill of of Parma, Idaho; two brothers, Robert Provines of Wichita, Kansas; and Loy Provines of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and sixteen grandchildren.
Her husband, father, two sisters, and a brother preceded her in death.
The past 2 months she has lived with Bula May Sides and family.
She was a devoted mother, community worker, and Home Extension Club member.
Leland Burch and Johnny Freeman had charge of the services which were in the Reydon Community building at 10:30 on August 22, 1970.
Pallbearers were her six eldest grandsons who are Jime Flesher, Dan Sides, Orville Robison, Charles Sides, Gary Sides, and Clayton Robison.
