Anna Elizabeth Granell Herzberg Chatfield

Anna Elizabeth Granell, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Granell was born August 3, 1880 in Clay County, Kansas and departed this life January 1, 1960 at Keyes, Oklahoma in the home of a grandson, Glen D. Douglas, at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 28 days.

She was united in marriage to Karl Herzberg at Clay County, Kansas in 1887 and moved to Oklahoma in 1901 where they homesteaded near old Hamburg northeast of Reydon.

To this union three children were born. Mr. Herzberg preceded her in death January 1, 1929.

On November 16, 1932 she was united in marriage to William Crandall Chatfield. They made their home in the Reydon community where he passed away August 22, 1950.

Mrs. Chatfield had been a semi-invalid since December 9, 1932 and was bedfast for the last two years. She was loved by all who knew her and was always busy with her hands, sewing. She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ira Douglas of Sapulpa since October 1953.

She leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters, Mrs. Violet Townsley of Lowell, Arkansas; and Mrs. Florence Douglas of Sapulpa; one son, Floyd R. Herzbert of Lexington, North Carolina; two stepsons, Walter J. Chatfield of Morrison, Colorado; and Richard Chatfield of St. Louis, Missouri; one stepdaughter of Kirksville, Missouri; four sisters, Mrs. Laura Erickson of Clay Center, Kansas; Mrs. Lizzy Davis of Manhattan, Kansas; Mrs. Christine Johnson and Mrs. Hilma Fee of Colorado Springs; one brother, Victor Granell of Clay Center, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Reydon community building, January 5, 1960 with Johnnie Freeman, pastor of the Church of Christ officiating.

Interment was in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills county, Oklahoma.
