Posted by Jo AguirreDoris Jean Dotson Batchelor was born December 29, 1929 in Reydon, OK to Mary Elizabeth and A.C. Dotson. She passed away June 8, 2020 at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 10 days in Sayre, Oklahoma.
Doris grew up in Reydon, OK and graduated from Reydon High School as a proud member of the Class of 1947. After graduation she attended cosmetology school in Oklahoma City. She was married to Charles William (Bibs) Batchelor at Cheyenne, OK on December 24, 1948. They lived in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Miami, TX, before returning to Reydon, OK where Doris ran a beauty shop while Bibs worked as a cowboy for several ranches in Roger Mills County. They lived for over 45 years in a ranch house southwest of Cheyenne. After retiring from the beauty shop Doris enjoyed spending time with many friends and helping her husband on the ranch. She moved to Cheyenne in 2011 and later to Hensley's Nursing Home in Sayre, OK. She was known as an outstanding hairdresser, a loving mother, an amazing cook and the best kind of friend.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Billie Batchelor; son, Billy DeWayne Batchelor; daughter, Mary Ann Batchelor; and infant son; her sister, Goldie Yowell; special cousin, Alexia Springer and special nephew Bill Yowell.
Survivors include her son, Gary Batchelor and wife Christy; daughter in law Barbara Batchelor; 6 grandchildren: Chris Batchelor, Jordan Linberg, Shamon Parkhurst, Garyn Pierce and husband William, Jason Cordell and wife Misty, Patrick Cordell and wife Krissy; 13 great grandchildren; extended family Pete and Susie Thurmond and their children; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 11, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Rose Chapel, Cheyenne.
Graveside services will be held Friday, 10:00 AM, June 12, 2020 at White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, OK.
