Mamie Jewel McDerman Bartz

Mamie Jewel McDerman Bartz was born September 19, 1909 at Bront, Texas to Thomas Perry and Carrie McDerman.

She came to the Sweetwater community from Texas and married Vern Elmer Bartz December 18, 1929, they moved to New Mexico and then to the Dempsey Community. They then moved to the Reydon community where she has lived since that time.

To this union was born five daughters, Zola Mae Bohan of San Diego, California; Billie Jean Gelhar of Beaverton, Oregon; Verna Jewel Mitchell of Richmond, Kansas; Elma Lee Clift of Reydon; Barbara Ellen McCoy of Reydon; and one son, Thomas Richard Bartz of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

She also leaves behind three brothers, Melvin McDerman of Eugene, Oregon; Y. C. McDerman of Phoenix, Arizona; and Ondee McDerman of Roswell, New Mexico; three sisters, Aubra Spriggs of Clovis, New Mexico; Lona Cassidy of Long Beach, California; and Nora Landrum of Colorado Springs, Colorado; as well as twenty four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Her husband passed away in 1973 and her parents also preceded her in death.

Services were held Saturday, July 5, 1980 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church at Reydon with Rev. Eddie Overstreet officiating.

Interment was in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
