Funeral services for Merrill L. Barker, 62, of Amarillo, Texas, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Reydon Community Building with Rev. Homer William and the Rev. Eddie Overstreet, officiating. He died Sunday in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
He was born September 13, 1918 in Rankin, Oklahoma and was married to Lucy Bell Young, April 7, 1979 in Amarillo.
He had moved to Amarillo in 1948.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was employed at the Amarillo College as a grounds maintenance specialist.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy of the home in Amarillo; a daughter, Mrs. Sue Curry of Kingman, Arizona; three grandchildren; a brother, Emery Barker of Lexington, Oklahoma; three sisters, Carrie Robbins of Tecumseh; Mable Henderson of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; and Erma Grayson of Norman.
Interment was in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with the Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne in charge of arrangements.
