Arthur T. "Chick" Barker was born July 4, 1911 in Rankin, Oklahoma to Mary Ann and Richard Sherman Barker. He passed away April 14, 2005 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years, 9 months and 10 days.
Chick grew up and attended school at Rankin.
He married Margarette Lois Atha on December 6, 1933 at Mayfield, Oklahoma.
They farmed near Reydon until 1944 when they moved to Durham, Oklahoma. In 1978 they retired and moved to Sayre to make their home.
Lois passed away in 1984. Chick remarried to Florene Lackey on March 3, 1985 and they continued to live in Sayre.
He was a member of Sayre Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Margarette; four brothers and seven sisters.
Survivors include his wife Florene of the home; two sons, Gerry and Carolyn Baker of Sayre, Oklahoma; and Arthur Gale and Zoe Ann Barker of Yukon, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Christy and David Whitehead of Mangum, Oklahoma; Tammy Giblet of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Travis and Londa Barker of Mustang, Oklahoma; Gayla Barker of Edmond, Oklahoma; Greg and Teresa Barker of Durham, Oklahoma; Shonna and Rodney Stewart of Sayre, Oklahoma; Molly and Robby Lindenfelser of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Polly Barker of Sayre, Oklahoma; and Kerri and Josh Randall of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; fifteen great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Hughes of Reydon, Oklahoma; two step grandchildren, Patti Sain of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Vicky Sain of Mannford, Oklahoma; and Julie Brown and husband Bryan of Weatherford, Oklahoma; six great step grandchildren; four great great step grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were held April 18, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sayre United Methodist Church officiated by Del Watkins and Ray Smart.
Burial was at 1:30 p.m. in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
