Agnes Ruby Little Scott © Cheyenne Star 17 Aug 1939 Submitted by: Wanda Purcell
Agnes Ruby Little was born at Jacksborough, Texas, February 1, 1877 and departed this life August 9, 1939 at the Community Hospital in Elk City, Oklahoma, after a prolonged illness of four months, the caise of her death being attributed to high blood pressure and other complications. She was 62 years, 5 months and 9 days of age at the time of her passing.
She united with the Christian church at the age of 14 years. Later in 1899 she with her husband were baptized into the Missionary Baptist Church in which she remained a faithful member until her death.
She was married to George Scott on December 23, 1894 and to this union six children were born.
One child, Clyde preceded her in death in 1921. The living children are Lloyd, Herman, Claude and Arthur Scott of Strong City, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Edna Durham of Eagle Nest, New Mexico.
Besides rearing her own family she reared to womanhood two of her brother's children, Mrs. Velma Bowman and Mrs. Meta Kirksey, and two grandsons Paul and Jack Black.
Besides her husband and children she leaves one sister, Mrs. Ora Harris who was her untiring nurse during her entire illness, and two brothers, W. W. Little and J. J. Little, both of Strong City; also eleven grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
Her life was a beautiful example of patient giving for she never thought herself but always of those who were near and dear to her.
Funeral services were held in the Baptist Church of Strong City Friday afternoon with Rev. Carl Mabra in charge, assisted by Rev. Lumas and Rev. Fred Wright, Sr.
Burial was in the Strong City cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Tunnard Funeral Home.
