James Augustus "Gus" Cofer passed away at his farm home near Strong City on January 17, 1954 at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 12 days.
He was born at Tom Green, Texas on June 4, 1892.
He came to this county at the age of 7 and spent his early life on a homestead with his parents near Strong City.
Gus was converted and joined the Baptist church in Strong City at an early age.
He was united in marriage to Nellie Hill in 1916 at Strong City. To this union four children were born.
Glen Cofer preceded his father in death in 1931.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of Strong City; two daughters, Mrs. Otis Lee of Cheyenne; and Mrs. Carl Mabra of Stephenville, Newfoundland; one son, Orval Cofer of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; one brother, Jim Cofer of Strong City; and five sisters, Della Cooper of Dallas, Texas; Frances McGuire of Oklahoma City; Minnie Hammitt of Ft. Sumner, New Mexico; May Cyphers of Stead, New Mexico; Nannie Grissom of Elk City, Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Gus was a wonderful husband and father and lived a very useful life.
