Myrtle Mae Kepley Caffey, Strong City, died January 17, 1971 at the Community Hospital at Elk City, age 88 years, 1 month and 13 days.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church, Strong City, Tuesday, January 19, 1971 at 2:30 p.m. Officiating was Rev. Carl Mabra, Choctaw, Oklahoma.
Myrtle Mae Kepley Caffey was born to Robert P. and Elizabeth Kepley December 4, 1882 in Bolivar, Missouri, on December 8, 1904.
She was married to Andrew Jackson Caffey "Jim" who preceded her in death in 1950. To this union three children were born, a son who died in infancy; and two daughters, Ethel Horstkoetter of Hammon; and Ora Bell Leach of Hollis.She is survived by two son-in-laws, John Horstkoetter and John Leach; eight grandchildren; John Jr., Doyle, Gene, Lavone Horstkoetter, Delphelenia Herndon, Fred and Robert Leach and Jymany Davis; a brother, Silas Henry Kepley; sister-in-law, Mrs. Silas Henry Kepley, Elk City; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mrs. Caffey was a charter member of the Cheyenne Rebekah Lodge of which she had been a member of 69 years.
Myrtle was a pioneer of Roger Mills County which she and her husband helped develop.
She was a loving Mother and a loyal friend.
Interment was in the Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
Her toils are past and her work is done, and she is fully blest, she fought the fight, the victory won, and entered into rest.
