George Daniel Summit was born in Leroy, Illinois, in 1877, he came to Oklahoma with his parents as a young man in 1894.

In 1900 he filed on a claim near Roll in Roger Mills County where he lived until 1946 when he moved to Elk City where he residsed until his passing.

He was united in marriage to Lettie Alma Gilliland in 1904. She preceded him in death in 1951.

One grandson, Eddie Summit, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Bertha Maude McCullough of Elk City, Oklahoma; one son, Lester George Summit of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.

Interment in Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
