Albert Donald Ridgway, 74, passed away at his home in Pinon Hills, California on Sunday, July 2, 2006.
Don was born in Crawford, Oklahoma to his parents Ralph and Lettie Ridgway on December 23, 1931.
He had seven brothers and one sister.
He moved to California in the early years where he was a surveyor, soil compaction tester and played country music for state senators, operating engineers, rodeos, chili cook-offs and various functions.
He moved back to Durham, Oklahoma in 1978 where he was Roger Mills County Commissioner.
His music legacy has left a song and a smile that will never be forgotten.
He loved playing for the Old Settler's Reunion every 5 years. His band, Don Ridgway and the Country Aires played for the last time at the Cheyenne High School and Crawford School in 2002. Oklahoma held a special place in his heart, he thought it was God's country.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lettie Ridgway; two brothers, Richard "Dick" and Ralph Ridgway; two nephews, Denny and Steve Ridgway; and one niece, Shirley Ridgway Rinella.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Mae Allen Ridgway of Pinon Hills, California; one son, Rocky Ridgway of Tombstone, Arizona; two daughters, Vickie Crabb of Tustin, California; and Penny Boyd of Stratford, Texas; five brothers, Hank Ridgway of Lake Isabella, California; Andrew Ridgway of Lancaster, California; Bill Ridgway of Kanab, Utah; Gene Ridgway of Ontario, California; Phil Ridgway of Higgins, Texas; and one sister, JoAnn Powers of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four grandchildren, Jill, Kevin, Kenny and Trent; one great grandson, Kamran; and a host of family and friends.
Graveside services will be Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma at 10:30 A.M.
The family will be at the home of Leonard and Margie McDaniel in Durham, Oklahoma on Friday evening, July 21 and Saturday, July 22.
The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, Hospice or the charity of your choice.
