James M. Rice, one of the old residents of this county passed away at his home north of Strong City on Thursday of last week after a brief illness.
Mr. Rice had lived here for a long time and was one of the honored and respected citizens of the county.
He leaves a wife and three boys.
The boys are grown and one of them is in the training camp of United States Army.
The Herald extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
James M. Rice was born in Illinois in February, 1862 and moved to Texas when a young man.
He came to Oklahoma and settled in Roger Mills county, near Roll.
Mr. Rice had been in bad health for a number of years, and gradually grew worse until April 4, 1918 when the death angel came for him.
Mr. Rice was a good husband, father and neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
He was converted in early life and lived a consistent Christian life for a number of years.
He leaves a wife; three sons; and a host of friends to mourn his untimely demise.
Funeral was conducted by Rev. J. F. Curtis and body laid to rest in the Dickason {Silent Home} cemetery, Roll, Oklahoma to await the resurrection morn.
