Delores Poindexter was born November 8, 1939 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Thursia June (Holt) and Colby Warren Poindexter. She passed away January 24, 2013 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 16 days.
 

Delores grew up in the Durham, Crawford and Reydon communities graduating from Reydon High School in 1958. After graduation she worked at the Cheyenne Hospital for a couple of years before furthering her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. In 1962, she moved to Oklahoma City where she went to work for the Department of Human Services and remained there for 41 years until her retirement in 2003. After retirement, she moved to Elk City to make her home and be closer to her family. Delores was a life-long and faithful member of the United Pentecostal Church attending services whenever able and even when she wasn't. She also made her family a priority and attended holidays and other family events. Delores also enjoyed sewing and crocheting.


She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Harlton Poindexter and 1 infant sister.


She is survived by her 2 brothers, Larry Poindexter and wife, Jolene, Baldwin Park, CA, Charles Poindexter and wife, Linda, Elk City, OK; 1 sister-in-law, Barbara Hamton, Klamath Falls, OR; 13 nieces and nephews, Ryan, Rusty, Christine, Lisa, Robert, Brandon, Brittany, Chelsi, Schyler, Caleb, Lexyn, Harleigh, Tara, Heaven, and a host of other relatives and friends.
 

Graveside services will be held Monday, January 28, 2013 at 10:00 am at Silent Home Cemetery officiated by Pastor Jimmy Wallace.

Burial will be at Silent Home Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
