Funeral services for Dr. Harland Oren Park will be conducted Thursday, January 2, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Christian Church of Sayre, Oklahoma with Bill Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Sayre.
Dr. Harland Oren Park was born, February 14, 1919 at Crawford, Oklahoma to Andrew H. and Myrtle Hardin Park and died Monday, December 30, 1992 at the age of 83.
He was married to Margaret Elaine Sadler on November 13, 1939.
Harland served his country as a radio operator on the Battleship New Mexico during World War II.
After his discharge, Harland graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio, Texas in 1954 and then opened his practice in Sayre in September of the same year. He retired in July of 2000 after 46 years of practice.
Harland was an elder at the First Christian Church of Sayre.
He was past President of the Kiwanis Club of Sayre, belonged to the American Legion, was a Mason and a Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Darlan; his brothers, Floyd, Hollis and O.T . Park; his sisters, Velma Crider and Margie Crider; and two great granddaughters, Morgan McAlpin and Daxton Park.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Park of the Sayre home; one daughter, Judy Isch and her husband, Jack of Oklahoma City; one son, Brad Park and his wife, Linda of Elk City; one sister, Lelia Vernor of Sapulpa; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
