Raymond Augustus Hyman was born January 8, 1927 in Strong City, Oklahoma to Lula Ethel Hill and John Hyman. He passed away September 10, 2003 in the Great Plains Regional Medical Center, Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 2 days.
Raymond entered the United States Army and served his country during World War II in the European Theatre.
After returning home, he graduated from Strong City High School in 1948.
He farmed with his father seven miles east of Roll, Oklahoma.
He was married to Luane Stroup on October 22, 1955 in Sayre, Oklahoma.
Raymond lived in Roger Mills county all his life.
He worked for Roger Mills county for ten years and then the Crawford schools in 1969. He rettired from Cheyenne Public Schools in the late 1980's.
He was a Christian and attended the Cheyenne First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Herman, Loyd, Elvis and David; one grandson, Shane; and one grandson, Michael Lee Roark and his wife, Skyla.
Survivors include two daughters, Lawana Roark and husband Deryl of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; and Lisa Woods and husband Carl of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; two sons, Farron Hyman of Elk City, Oklahoma; and Arlen Hyman of Weatherford, Oklahoma; four brothers, Harold Hyman and wife Dorris of Clinton, Oklahoma; Melvin Hyman and wife Margaret of Madisonville, Tennessee; Kenneth Hyman of Jones, Oklahoma; and Jesse Hyman of Elk City, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Cheyln Hyman, Joshua Hyman, Misti Woods, Sherri Callander, Kent Hyman, Sandra Beer, Derlyin Roark and Shawn Roark; three step grandchildren, Rachel Bailey, Richard Bailey and Robby Bailey; three great grandchildren, Kaylee Hyman, Hunter and Trapper Roark and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held Saturday, September 13, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist Church, officiated by Terrell Romberg and Fred King.Burial followed at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne.
