BORGER - Lillian Elizabeth Stroup Fowler, 96, formerly of Amarillo, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Amarillo. Burial will be in Silent Home Cemetery in Roll, Okla. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Lillian Elizabeth Stroup Fowler was born Sept. 7, 1911, in Blackburn, Okla., to Franklin and Mariah Elizabeth Stroup. She had three sisters and five brothers, of which she was next to the youngest.

Lillian grew up in Crawford, Okla. In 1927, she married Victor Wayne Fowler, a schoolteacher at Pansy and Crawford schools. They had two children, Betha Lou and Richard Wayne.

Lillian was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo, Tri-City Home Demonstration Club, Eastern Star Lodge and Republican Women of Hutchinson County. Lillian was voted "Woman of the Year" in Borger for her community service. She was also designated "Worthy Matron" of the Eastern Star Lodge as well as honored for being an Eastern Star member for 50 years.

Lillian was best known for her wonderful pies, which she often shared with the sick and shut-ins in her community to help brighten their day. Lillian was a very kind, loving and thoughtful person. She had a great sense of humor, even in her last days. She loved her Lord, family, friends and she was loved by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne "Vic" Fowler; five brothers; three sisters; two grandsons, Randy and Robin Hager; and a great-grandson, Alex.

Survivors include a daughter, Betha Lou Hager and husband J.W. of Georgetown; a son, Richard Wayne Fowler and wife Becky of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Rick Hager of Liberty Hill, Rene'e Cheshire of Amarillo, Robin Fowler of Antioch, Calif., and Richelle Fowler of Frisco; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
