Thelma Arlene Clay was born August 29, 1926 in Rankin, Oklahoma. Thelma was the first child of five children born to Eleazor (Elea) Clay, Jr and Agnes (Denton) Clay. She was raised in Reydon, Oklahoma and attended Reydon schools graduating with the Class of 1944 as the Salutatorian. Thelma married the love of her life, Jakie Raymond Coym on June 24, 1944. Together, Thelma and Jakie raised three children, Barbara Ann, Jackie Ray, and David Lee. After serving in the military, they moved their family to Bethany, Oklahoma where Jakie served in the Oklahoma National Guard and Thelma worked for Frigiquip Corp. Upon retiring, they traveled throughout North America and lived in Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma. Finally, Thelma and Jakie returned home to their beloved Western Oklahoma. Thelma was a dedicated mother, wife and grandmother. She loved to garden and cook for her family and friends. She loved to play cards and dominoes. Thelma was a believer of hard work and strong character. She encouraged others to be unique and stay true to themselves. She was known for the grandma and aunt that sent the special two-dollar bills to grandkids, great-grands, nieces and nephews, seldom missing a birthday.
