Gary was born January 30, 1941 in Arnett, OK, 1 of 6 children born to Elmer Franklin Carpenter and Bernita Marie (Boyles) Carpenter. Gary was raised in Arnett, and attended school there, graduating in 1959. He answered the call to service, and joined the United States Air Force. In his younger years, he traveled the Rodeo circuit, and he greatly enjoyed competing in team roping. Gary worked a variety of jobs throughout the years, but mainly spent his life on the open road. He owned and operated his own semi-truck, and logged countless miles over the years. Gary made his home all over Kansas and Nebraska, before building a cabin and retiring to Southeastern Oklahoma. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and looked forward to a good game of golf. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His parents, Elmer Carpenter and Bernita (Carpenter) Lucas.
Gary is survived by: Two sons, Todd Carpenter of Nebraska and Troy Carpenter of Tulsa; Brothers, Eddie Carpenter and wife Janie of Noble, George Carpenter of Maysville, Leroy Carpenter and wife Sherry of Mustang and Jerry Lucas and wife Carol of Mansfield, MO; Sister, Vicki Owens and husband Lynn of Springfield, MO, a special step granddaughter Brook Hinton and a host of other family and friends.Send online condolences @ www.wilsonlittle.com.
