JoEl Estelle Stephenson Bonser, 62, died May 15, 1996 in the Elk City Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 18 at the Whinery-Savage Chapel in Elk City with Ray Smart officiating.
Burial was in the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, OK under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Home of Elk City.
Mrs. Bonser, the daughter of Viola Ethel and Edgar Bliss Stephenson, was born on April 11, 1934, in Sherman, Texas.
She married Bobby Clayton Bonser on December 31, 1952 in her sister's home.
She served in the U.S. Air Force from July 1952 until April 1953. While Mr. Bonser continued serving in the Air Force, they lived in Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Alaska, Oregon and then back in Texas. Following his retirement from the Air Force in 1971, they moved to western Oklahoma. In 1983, they moved to Cordell to make their home.
Mrs. Bonser attended nursing school and graduated at the top of her class in 1980. She was a licensed practical nurse {LPN} and worked in hospitals in Cheyenne, Chickasha, Elk City and Clinton, retiring from Cordell Memorial Hospital in 1995 due to illness.
She always put others first and she lived for her husband, children, grandchildren, other family members and friends. She was known for her compassion, humor and the ability to know when to say the right words and when to just listen.
She was baptized at the Durham Baptist Church in 1974.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dennis Lee Bonser in 1976; two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby of the home; four daughters, Phyllis JoAnn Duke of Elk City; Lenda Diane Nance and Valerie JoEl Bonser, both of Cordell; and Anita Joy Connally of Duncanville, Texas; one son, Robert Mehlon Bonser of Elk City; three sisters, Martha McAdoo of Garland, Texas; Margaret Daniels of Maybank, Texas; and Virginia Morriss of Sherman, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jenna JoEl Duke, Caleb Perkins, Amanda Perkins, Travis Suttle, Sara Suttle, Jayson Bonser and Bailey Armstrong; and several other relatives and friends.

Bobby "PaPa" Bonser was born February 19, 1931 in Moorewood, Oklahoma to Minnie Pearl (Archer) and Lawrence Bonser.

He passed away June 25, 2007 in his home in Cordell, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 6 days.

Bobby grew up south of Arnett, Oklahoma on the Canadian River. He joined the United States Air Force in December of 1951 where he served until October of 1971. During his time of service he was married to an Air Force Cryptologist JoEl Estelle (Stephenson)Bonser. They were married at Sherman, Texas on December 31, 1952. After his retirement from the service he settled with his family in Western Oklahoma. Bobby enjoyed reading, learning about history, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by parents, wife, one brother, one sister and a son.

He is survived by his 5 children, Phyllis JoAnn Duke, Anadarko, Oklahoma, Lenda Diane Nance, Cordell, Oklahoma, Anita Joy Connally, Waxahachie, Texas, Robert Mehlon Bonser, Sandia, Texas, Valerie JoEl Bonser, Cordell, Oklahoma, 11 grandchildren, Brian Connally, Caleb Perkins, Amanda Servais, Travis Suttle, Sara Suttle, Jayson Bonser, Bailey Armstrong, Daniel Watkins, Jenna Duke, Clayton Bonser, and Robby Bonser; 8 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Betty Workman, Bea Williams and Sue Pond; 4 brothers, Bill Bonser, Dale Bonser, Bryan Bonser, Barney Bonser and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held Friday, June 29, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Whinery-Savage Chapel officiated by Ray Smart.

Burial was held at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
