Submitted by: Wanda Purcell

Willie Inez Barker was born May 20, 1903 at Mountain View, Oklahoma.
She was one of six children born to Tom and Ammie Barker.
Tom and his family lived on the Washita River near Mountain View, Oklahoma.
When Willie was about five years old, the family farm was destroyed by flood and Tom and Ammie moved their family by wagon to Toland in Old Day county. They lived there until Willie was about ten years old when they moved across the Canadian River into Roger Mills county, northwest of Leedey.
Willie and her brother and sisters rode their horses and attended the local community school. She also spent her growing up years working in the fields along beside her Dad.
On November 18, 1920, James Emery Bailey and Willie Inez Barker rode the train to Cheyenne, Oklahoma where they were united in marriage. They established their home in the Canadian community, northwest of Leedey. Five children were born to this union, Willa Dene, Ralph Allen, Ruth Lavena, James Lyle and Carol Inez.
Willie's lifetime occupation was housewife, mother, friend and neighbor.
She was an excellent seamstress and cook. Oh, the wonderful fragrance of home cooked bread upon arriving home after a day at work or school.
She belonged to the Canadian Home Extension Club many years. She took special interest in helping 4-H girls with their cooking projects and demonstrations.
In the summer of 1947 she accepted Christ as her Savior, was baptized by Bro. Hasty in a farm pond and became a member of the Liberty Center Baptist Church. Later she moved her membership to the Leedey First Baptist Church where she was a member at the time of her death. She loved the Lord and her church. Of special interest to her was her sweet Sunday School class, the young people, and children of the church. Her patience, love, understanding, gentleness, meekness, kindheartedness, joy, peace and self-control, were the manifestations of God's faithful and loving Spirit shining through her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Ammie Barker; one brother, Luther; four sisters, Zelma Dukes, Jessie Carpenter, Elizabeth Bailey and Etola Snell; her husband, Emery Bailey; son, Allen Bailey; daughter, Lavena Bailey; and granddaughter, Dawn Renee Sharp.
Surviving are her children, Carol Sharp and husband Dave; Willa Dene Schuldt; Lyle Bailey and wife, Erika; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
