Funeral services for Mrs. Leah Blalock Ray, long time Hammon resident who died suddenly at her home Thursday, July 4, 1974 were conducted from the Hammon Church of Christ Saturday July 6, 1974, with Paul Evans minister of the Hollis Church of Christ officiating.
Burial followed in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Martin Funeral Home of Elk City in charge.
Mrs. Ray was born December 1, 1895 in Elli Jay, Georgia. She was 78.
She was married to Joseph Albert Ray March 11, 1914 at Hammon and they resided on a farm in the Nine Mile community until 1947, when they moved into Hammon where she has lived since.
Mr. Ray preceded her in death July 14, 1969.
Mrs. Ray was a longtime member of the Hammon Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph D. Ray of Hammon; Hubert Ray of Elk City; Foy Ray of Shertz, Texas; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous friends.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Raymon Ray, who was killed in World War II in Germany; and Harley Ray, who died September 4, 1972.
