Mrs. I. O. D. "Odie" Hall Parks

Mrs. I. O. D. "Odie" Hall Parks was born March 23, 1880 in Marton County, Arkansas and departed this life September 14, 1965 in an Elk City hospital. She was 85 years, 5 months and 21 days of age.
On April 1, 1896 she was united in marriage to Nona B. Parks at Hart, Indian Territory.
They came to the Carpenter area in 1900, sometime later they moved near Hammon and in 1939 they moved to Hammon.
Mr. Parks preceded her in death on March 7, 1947.
She was a long time member of the Methodist church.
Mrs. Parks was truly a pioneer, many families can remember her help in the early trials of settling the new country in which she gave graciously of her time and talent to build this area into the land we enjoy today, and although fews are left of that day, we will not soon forget the trials they endured and their contributions to our society.
Survivors include two sons, Claude Parks of Perryton, Texas; Carl Parks of Konawa, Oklahoma; four daughters, Mrs. Flora Brown and Mrs. Gladys Dow of Hammon; Mrs. Velma Richert of Enid; and Mrs. Bertie Lee Owens of Canute; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; other relatives and of course, many, many friends who mourn her passing.
Her husband and a daughter, Maudie Barnes preceded her in death.
Burial in Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon.
