Funeral services for Bert were conducted Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Hammon with Rev. Winston Curtis officiating. Interment was in the Red Hill Cemetery.
Bert Walden Mitchell was born March 17, 1927, in Roger Mills County to Laura B. Moad and Henry W. Mitchell.
He passed away at his home on May 7, 2011.
Bert grew up in Roger Mills County with his three brothers, Moad, Keith and Dean; and four sisters, Vivian {Eva}, Merle, Doris and Alyce.
He married Vonda F. Hollingsworth of Hammon and this year they would have celebrated sixty years of marriage.
Bert enlisted and served in the Navy for the remainder of his military career assigned to the USPHS. He retired in 1989 as a Naval Captain.
He is survived by his wife, Vonda; four children and two grandchildren.

Bert will always be remembered for his kindness and his love for God. His smile always lit up any room!!!
