Services for Newt D. Dykes were conducted by Rev. M. F. Milburn Friday afternoon, November 25, 1951 at 3:30 o'clock. Burial was in Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
Newt D. Dykes was born in Wolf County, Kentucky, August 10, 1880 and departed this life at his home in Hammon, Oklahoma November 21, 1951, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 11 days.
He came to Oklahoma in 1898, and was united in marriage to Miss Almeda Thomas May 15, 1900. To this union were born eight children. One child preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mrs. Almeda Dykes; four daughters, Mrs. Louis Walker of Leedey, Oklahoma; Mrs. Delbert Dixon of Carson, California; Mrs. Laura Bradford of Hammon, Oklahoma; Mrs. Roy Benn of Sulphur, Oklahoma; three sons, Westley and Clay of Hammon and J. C. of Stockton, California; eighteen grandchildren; one great grandchild and many relatives and friends.
Casket bearers were Bill Allen, Roy Cowherd, Bud Dodson, Reed Ackley, Lew Savage and Leanord Jones.
Honorary Bearers were A. T. Watkins, W. E. Weaver, W. R. Benne, Edd Moxley, J. L. McDonald and W. S. Hiatt.
