Funeral services for Richard Lawrence Dugger were held at 2:30 p.m, Saturday, January 11, 1992 in the First Baptist Church of Hammon with Reverend Mike McDougan, officiating, and Reverend Keith Russell, assisting.

Richard L. Dugger was born on September 15, 1917 in Hammon, Oklahoma, the son of John Arthur Dugger and Nellie Maye Brown Dugger, and died January 8, 1992 in the South Community Hospital, Moore, Oklahoma at the age of 74.

He lived most of his life in the Hammon area.

Richard was a farmer and rancher, and he and his brother, Brown Dugger, owned and operated Dugger Chevrolet in Hammon for 25 years. Mr. Dugger also at one time owned an International Harvester and Desoto/Plymouth Dealership at Hammon; a ranch near Davis, Oklahoma; International Harvester at Erick; the Town House Motel at Pacucah, Texas; Pendley Furniture Manufacturing in Oklahoma City; grovery stores in Borger, Texas and Clinton, Oklahoma; a children's clothing store in Yukon, Oklahoma; a hardware store in Bethany; an International Harvester Dealership in Fairview, Oklahoma; Tri-D Grocery Store in Shamrock, Texas; a furniture store in Blair, Oklahoma and a women's ready-to-wear store in Hammon.

He was a Hereford cattle breeder for pure bred Charolais cattle in western Oklahoma.

Richard L. Dugger married Emma Irene Stout on June 30, 1935 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. They were members of the Hammon First Baptist Church.

He was first and foremost a family man who loved his wife, brothers, sisters, sons and grandchildren.

His hobbies were traveling, training and racing thoroughbreds at the American Indian Exposition Race Track in Anadarko, breeding and showing Charolais cattle and dabbling in oil and gas royalties.

In his younger years he loved flying.

Mr. Dugger is survived by his wife, Irene of the Hammon home; two sons, Richard L. Dugger and his wife, Pat of Elk City; and Bill Dugger and his wife, Sharon of Chickasha; four grandchildren, Richard L. Dugger II and his wife, Rhonda of Midwest City; Dennis Dugger and his wife, Beck of Elk City; Danielle Dugger of Moore and David Dugger of Edmond; one great grandson, Devon Dugger of Moore; two brothers, Brown and his wife, Ruth of Hammon; and Harry and his wife, Martha Toye of Anadarko; two sisters, Muriel Vignal of Kansas City, Kansas; and Marie Rice of Amarillo, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Dugger was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Burial was in Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Savage Funeral Home.

Casket Bearers were Leo Jones, John Flick, tony Rader, Dale Hughes, Junior Trout and Larry Hollingsworth.
