Curtis C. Cox, son of Oscar M. Cox living one mile west of Hammon, was killed at New Wilson, Oklahoma, last Saturday, February 10, 1917 while assisting his brother in sawing a large tree. It fell crushing him to the ground killing him instantly.
His body was sent to Hammon for burial, the Woodmen of the World lodge being in charge.
Curtis C. Cox was born November 9, 1896 and was a veteran of World War I.
A large crowd attended the funeral services at Hammon, on Sunday afternoon, at the Methodist Church South, where Rev. Depew preached the sermon and spoke in high tribute of the young man.
The deceased was twenty years of age and had lived near Hammon for three years.
Burial was in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
